Who Is Thunder Family?

“From the beginning of time high school football players have experienced setbacks, disappointments, and terrible defeats – and they are all painful. The pain is called adversity. People will watch you to see how you all handle adversity… and, I will tell you why they will watch you. Those who learn to embrace adversity, to feel the pain and move forward anyway, will turn pain into motivation that can’t be stopped. In your future the best employers will be looking for people who can deal with adversity and place these people into the best jobs that pay. If you are willing, adversity can become the fuel to power you to the next level of greatness. I believe if you are willing to grab ahold of this pain, and refuse to be defeated, the 2016 Thunder Football team will become the greatest team to ever take the field at Thunder Stadium. The bottom line is this…” it’s not about winning and losing. It’s about becoming strong men of character, conviction, and honor. Welcome to THUNDER FAMILY!”

The performance and ultimate success of a high school football program is largely dependent on the coaching staff’s commitment to building a culture of success. Coaches who can get the best out of their players year-after-year do a lot more than win football games. They impact lives in positive ways that last a lifetime. The incredible group of men representing Desert Hills Football has done just that – they have built a winning culture. We call it Thunder Family.

At the High School level, the greatest coaches stay with one or two schools for their entire coaching career. They are committed to the kids, the school, and the community. These guys take coaching seriously, but they do it for more than just a love for the game. They do it because they love kids. They see their role as a noble one. They are focused on building up the next generation to go forth and make a positive difference in the world. The top coaches know they have a hand in mentoring future husbands, fathers, and community members, and this part of their job is their highest priority and greatest honor.

The coaches of Desert Hills Football Program can be named among the best high school coaches in the nation. Their quest is to shape and mold young men into respectful people who are equipped to live a life of many successes. The Thunder Family coaches are following a calling that resides deep within their heart. They were born for this job. These guys are blessed with valuable gifts, and they are determined to use them in ways that will make a measurable difference in lives of many. They are the Legacy Makers.

To the Thunder coaching staff, building up the successful football program through Desert Hills was not done to advance their coaching careers. And, it was not an opportunity to leap into a good paying job at the college level. It’s about creating a winning culture where the lessons they teach will help young people to realize their dreams. Moreover, they intend for their investment into the kids to be profitable for everyone for decades to come.
